So.. anyone want guacamole!? lol!
Let me give you the back
story… because it all started with Avocados!!
In the bustling streets of Downtown Memphis, on the south west side of Madison and B.B. King, Stood a tall green avocado tree. lol come on now, there are no crops growing downtown! There was however a brown, historic building with only 4 stories. Not very significant in comparison to the its neighboring sky high buildings and cityscape. The building was called, The Pressbox. It consisted of exactly 50 loft style rustic contemporary apartments. Charlene lived on the first floor, apartment 103. Bidemi, Who we all grew to know as, Olu, lived directly next door, in apartment 105.
The two were complete strangers. Aside from a few chance encounters either in the hallway or at the mailbox, they’d never truly SEEN each other. The most Charlene knew about her now fiancé then, was that he often cooked fish because the smell permeated the hallways and corridors. She’d often think to herself, “Who cooks fish in such a small and communal space!” Olu, noticed Charlene, not long after he moved into the apartment building and had often pretended to go check his mailbox when he’d hear her coming or going. After a few months of orchestrating these chance encounters, Olu decided he’d finally shoot his shot. The day prior he’d received some avocados that he ordered. Olu had gotten way more avocados than what he ordered, so he decided he’d knock on Charlene’s door and offer her some! Charlene was in her apartment on a group call with her sisters when he knocked. She ended the call when she opened the door and realized it was him! He’d explained that he received way more avocados than he needed so wanted to offer them out as opposed to letting them sit in his place and go to waste. She thanked him and excepted his offer, because yes, as a California girl, she absolutely did love avocados. Charlene called her sisters back and told them that the neighbor just brought her over some avocados. They asked why. She explained his reasoning and in true sister fashion, their next question was “So what does he look like?” To put it 90’s sitcom terms she basically described him as tall, dark and handsome! The sisters said “Oh wow!” “You should make some guacamole and invite him over for some!” Instead Charlene had come up with a plan of her own. The next day as she was walking out of her apartment, Olu, not so coincidentally also walked out of his on his faux mailbox run. Charlene spoke and told him she was headed to the liquor store and asked if he wanted anything back. He said, “Yes. Hennessy.” He offered to pay her for it. She declined. He was shocked. She was intrigued. And now they’re getting married!!!!!!
